Blenheim Palace Junior Regatta 2017

Monday, 19 June 2017 - 10:44am

Blenheim Palace Junior Regatta is held on the lake in the stunning grounds of Blenheim Palace and is a great chance for our youngest members to gain racing experience. This year saw Headington enter over 50 Novice and J13 girls into the event across all boat classes.

Strong winds throughout the day made racing challenging with the event forces to run most of the events as time trials and the single sculls were forces to withdraw due to the inclement conditions.

J13 Squad

The J13s had a strong showing at the regatta displaying excellent skills in coping with the rough water conditions on the lake. The J13 B 4x+ narrowly missed out on a medal, taking 4th place, two Headington crews took 2nd and 3rd in the J13 A 2x with another double taking 2nd in the B event. Finally, the J13 A 4x+ took an impressive Gold in the competitive J13 A 4x+ category, taking 1st place out of 11 entries.

The Novice squad also had a large contingent of rowers competing at Blenheim with an impressive 5 coxed quads and four double sculls racing with Headington crews taking 2nd and 3rd places in both of these events.

Very well done to everyone who raced in the challenging conditions which confronted them on the water at Blenheim, all crews showed great skill and composure and excellent spirit over the whole day.
