Joining Headington School Oxford

If your daughter is a rower and you are considering Headington School:

Every year girls from other schools and clubs join Headington. If you are considering joining Headington School we would advise the following:

1) Arrange a visit. Make sure you complete the online form to register interest and book an open day. If you cant make any of the open days, its best to contact admissions and they will make arrange a suitable time for you to come in and see the school for yourself.

2)  Contact the Boat Club by clicking this link to register your interest in HSOBC. This is important because we can track your daughter's application and keep in contact with you and the admissions team throughout the application process. We are also happy to arrange for your daughter to join a training session so she can see what rowing at Headington is like.

Scholarships:

Information about Headington School scholarships including key application and assessment dates can be found on the school website.

Means tested Rowing Scholarships are also considered by the boat club for suitable athletes, for more information please contact the boat club

Frequently Asked Questions

My daughter has never rowed before, can she still join the boat club?

For U3 to U4 pupils there is no requirement of previous Rowing experience to join the boat club. U3 rowers are all new to the sport and learn together from September. HSOBC offers a fast track programme for 4th Form students who wish to start Rowing aiming to integrate the girls into their year group Rowing squad over the course of the Autumn Term.

L5 to U6 students with no Rowing experience and who wish to join the boat club will be assessed by the Head of Rowing for suitability to join at the start of the Autumn Term and, if successful, will be able to join. For more information, please contact the Head of Rowing.

My daughter is new to the school and has previous rowing experience, can she join the boat club?

All U3 to U4 pupils are welcome to join the boat club with or without previous experience.

L5 to U6 students who wish to join the boat club will be assessed by the Head of Rowing for suitability to join at the start of the Autumn Term and, if successful, will be able to join. For more information, please contact the Head of Rowing.

Can my daughter join the boat club after the September enrolment?

Unfortunately, Headington is normally oversubscribed and so girls who do not sign up in September normally cannot be enrolled into the club until the following September. If your daughter wishes to join later in the year please contact the Head of Rowing (chermes@headingtonschool.com) to discuss the possibility of a late start.
