Headington School Oxford Boat Club's best ever results.

On 26th April, Headington School Oxford Boat Club travelled to a surprisingly sunny Nottingham for the GB April Small Boats Regatta, with five pairs, one single sculler and one cox representing the squad. The regatta format consisted of three rounds of 2km racing: a time trial, semi-final and final.

The event provided an important opportunity for the squad to test themselves in a highly competitive environment following a long winter of training, while also helping shape the picture ahead of final crew formation later in the season. Across the day, the standard of racing and the consistency shown across multiple boat classes reflected both the depth and strength of the group.

Particularly impressive were the composite combinations, where athletes raced alongside rowers from other programmes with limited preparation time together. The ability of these crews to adapt quickly, race effectively and produce strong performances highlighted the technical quality and racing maturity of the athletes involved.

Following a late change to plans, Kate approached the regatta with an excellent mindset in the single scull and produced a highly competitive performance against athletes who race and train regularly in singles. Her resilience and adaptability throughout the day were particularly notable.

The squad delivered a series of strong results throughout the regatta, including two crews reaching the A Final and a 1st place from the Headington pair of Hannah and Anna and a 2nd place in the A Filan from Henriette and Zena. A final below.

Combined with the overall number of athletes racing, the regatta marked Headington’s strongest ever performance at the GB April Small Boats Regatta and was another encouraging indicator of the programme’s development and depth.
