On Saturday 6th November we saw over 40 girls compete at Kingston Small Boats Head. The race is set over a 5200m course starting from just beyond the historic Hampton Court Palace.
The first division saw 14 headington single sculls on the course between the J18 and J16 events. Issie won the J18 single event leading the next placed competitor by 10s in a very strong performance. We had another win in the first division in the J15 coxed quad with the crew made up of Paula, Izzy, Violetta and Elsa coxed by senior cox Sophie. Within this division we had three further crews racing with a J18 double and 2 additional J15 coxed quads making it a very strong representation from headington along the course.
Division two marked the move of the seniors and J16s into crew boats with two J18 quads racing within the women’s coxless quad event, two J16 coxless quads and a J16 double all racing down the course. We had our third win of the day from one of our five J14 coxed quads entered with the crew of Evie, Neretva, Ellie and Jess, all coxed by Sophie making it her second win of the day.
It was also great to have family and friends supporting from the banks and bridges which overall added to a good day of racing with three winning crews and another chance to gain some racing experience for everyone there.
