The May Bank Holiday weekend saw a number of events: The first of which was Marlow Spring Regatta. saw an exciting start to our summer racing season, as girls from J13 to J18 headed to Marlow and Dorney to compete in Marlow Spring, Wallingford, and the Junior Sculling Regatta.
Marlow's morning racing was set in motion on Saturday by the J14s taking to the water for their heats, the girls showcased some amazing racing and progressed confidently through the draw with all three quads earning places in their finals. Following a short break the J14s returned to the Thames, this time competing in an Octo and two doubles.
All crews delivered strong performances, storming through their heats and finishing in medal positions. As the day progressed it was the J13s turn to set afloat. Their quads were the first to race, with all five boats performing exceedingly well and gaining key racing experience. Attention then shifted to the J13 Octos to round off the afternoon, both Headington crews reached the final and raced closely against each other along the whole length of the course. HED (298) just came out on top, grasping the win as they crossed the finish line only ¾ of a length ahead -a great race to finish off the day!
