Wallingford Regatta 2023

The first regatta to kick off the summer season was Wallingford.

On the 30th April squads J15 to Seniors headed down to Eton Dorney for a long day of racing!

To start the day off the First Eight and Second Eight competed for spots in the final in their respective heats;

The second eight narrowly missed the final placing 8th out of 16 crews, and the first eight won their heat and secured a spot.

The first eight overall won the category (Youtube Link), which was a great triumph, particularly finishing with clear water and their first win this year against rivals Henley Rowing Club.

The First Eight then competed in the Women's Challenge 8+’s and after their heat, secured a place in the final and came 4th (Youtube Link), narrowly missing 3rd by 3 seconds, racing crews such as Leander and Thames Boat Club.

The J15’s also entered two eights, the A eight secured a place in the final and placed 5th, while the B crew just missed a place in the final by coming 7th in the heats, they were the fastest B crew in the category, showing amazing depth and potential from the squad.

There were two quads entered into the J16 coxless quads, one made up of J16s and one of J15s, both securing spots in the final after racing their respective heats and placing 3rd - the J16’s - and 6th - the J15’s - in the final; amazing performances from both crews.

It was a great day of racing from all year groups, with fun, podiums, and lots of excitement as NATS gets ever closer. Well done to all those who competed.
